One evening my oldest walked in from work and said, “Hey Mom, I think you saved my life today.” Wait, what??? I’ve been here all day what happened? What are you talking about?
Have you ever witnessed the power of prayer; the power of escaping harm or death?
Then he proceeded to tell me what happened earlier.
His story…
There’s this very busy intersection that I drive through everyday. Its always packed with cars. Today it was raining and my car doesn’t do well on wet roads. I was turning at the intersection like always and my car instantly spun around out of control! I was headed the wrong direction in the opposite lane. I looked around to see that I was all alone with absolutely no cars in sight. Pulling back into the correct lane and direction, knowing my life had just been spared, I began thanking God. Thank you God is all I could think.
And Mom – I see you everyday praying in the basement when I leave. I think your prayers save my life today.
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Ephesians 6:18 NLT
Sometimes we may not know or see what our prayers do. Sometimes we never hear these kinds of stories. WE con’t even know how our prayers impact friends or family- we have no idea the power of prayer.
I can’t imagine if this day would have turned out differently. If I were to get a phone call or have a stranger show up at my door – I don’t know what I would have done. I don’t want to think about that. But I was sure glad that prayer was a part of my daily routine.
But that day my son not only witnessed it, but was a part of the miracle! His life was spared. No cars were around. We both gained faith that day.
