The Gated Community

I was inspired to write this poem, not from personal experience but based on how much unhappiness can plague people who appear to have it all. Enjoy!

The GATED Community by Laurie Krawchuk

IN OUR GATED COMMUNITY I’M THE PRESIDENT
YOU NEED THE LOOK AND THE MONEY
OR OUT OUR GATE YOU’LL BE SENT

WE LOOK DOWN ON OTHER PEOPLE
THAT ARE NOT UP TO OUR STATUS
WE TURN THE OTHER WAY
AND LAUGH SNICKER AND HARASS

OUR MULTILEVEL HOUSES WITH THE POOLs OUT BACK
AND OVER-RATED SPOUSES, PERSONALITY THEY LACK

WE live in mansionS at the top of the hill
We put on our ‘masks’ and don’t ever be real

IN OUR ELITE HOUSEWIFE MINDS WE HAVE IT SOOO TOUGH
LINING OUT OUR NANNY, CHEF, AND GARDENER AND ALL THAT OTHER STUFF

Our grasses are green with fertilizer and sod
We lay out by the pool tanning and showing of our bod

OUR NAILS, HAIR, AND FASHION IS OF ESSENTIAL NECCESITY
OUR FACE AND OUR BODIES DISPLAY THE LATEST PLASTIC SURGERY

Then times got tough the money ran out
The economy went down and we lost our house

No jobs in sight, the cars got repossessed
The jewelry was pawned, and our credit was a mess

I lost all my friends they were not true friends ‘you see’
It was just about looks and money and our property

Inspired by our failing economy
But
Be inspired God isn’t finished with you yet!
